Join us for our Sunday Services

Our Sunday services are central to the life and practice of The United Church.

Beginning the weekend after Labor Day, we gather in two services each week (8:45 AM and 11:00 AM). These two services continue through the weekend before Memorial Day.

During the summer (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend), we have one service, which begins at 9:30 AM.

What are Sunday services like?

Structured

The style is structured, traditional, and includes a 20-minute sermon

Pipe Organ

Kateri Andress, a student at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, plays the organ each week.

Hymns

Singing hymns accompanied by our Parsons Pipe Organ, Opus 4. The organ is also used for concerts throughout the year.

Scripture Readings

Scripture readings are part of each service. The sermon is Bible focused rather than topical.

Children’s Time

A children’s sermon is a key part of each Sunday service. The children are invited to the front each week to join the pastor or another volunteer.

Prayers

Several prayers are offered each week, including a pastoral prayer. During the pastoral prayer, we pray for our world, our community, and our church family.

Children in Our Services

Nursery care for infants through 5-year-olds is provided during all Sunday Services. All adult volunteers in the nursery are background checked. Teen volunteers are only allowed to serve with an adult. We have a pager system for parents to utilize in case their child needs a diaper change. All nursery toys and furniture are cleaned/sanitized regularly.

Children’s Time (a.k.a. children’s church) is offered on most Sundays during the 11:00 AM service or during our one summer 9:30am service. After the children’s sermon, kids aged Kindergarten through 2nd grade go to to a classroom with two adult and/or teen volunteers for an age-appropriate lesson. All adult volunteers are background checked. Parents are asked to pick their children up immediately following the service. On Communion Sundays when Children’s Time is not offered, Worship bags are available for any children to use during the Worship service.
