Year of the Bible 2010

"Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."
           Psalm 119:105

Through 66 books, 1,189 chapters, and hundreds of thousands of words, the Bible shares an extraordinary message: God loves you!

The United Church has adopted The Year of the Bible for 2010 and we invite you to join us. This program welcomes all members of the congregation to read through the entire Bible during the year.

A Participant Book provides a schedule of daily readings and an overview of the material you will read each month. We will support you with this endeavor through:
• Prayers
• Sermons to reflect the readings
• Adult and High School Sunday School classes – see the link to the right for recent worksheets from the adult class
• Special adult gatherings to discuss Bible topics with guest speakers, films, and/or group discussions – see the link to the right for upcoming events
• A Resource Table on the first Sunday of each month after each service
• A “YOB” page in the monthly Lamplighter Newsletter with commentary on the monthly readings
• Visuals: maps and charts on the Adult Ed Bulletin Board and in the hallway
• Periodic celebrations, including a year-end celebration

Participant Books may be purchased for $4 each. They are available at the Church Office and at the Year of the Bible Sunday School class. If you are beginning the program mid-2010, we welcome you! For more information, please call our Adult Ed Director, Virginia Holroyd, at 585-394-0503.
