Fellowship & Ministry Oportunities at The United Church 

As you can see from the lengthy list below, there are many Fellowship and Ministry opportunities available for all ages here at The United Church!   If you are interested in getting additional information on how to connect with any of these options, please contact the church office, at 394-0503.  



ADULTS
Personal Growth and/or Enjoyment

• SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
All
adults are invited to participate in one of these classes which are offered from 9:45-10:45 a.m. each Sunday during September – May. You may join a class at anytime during a session! The Bible-based curriculum covers a variety of topics which focus on growing as disciples of Jesus Christ.

• SMALL GROUP STUDIES
Adults meet to study scripture, discuss books and movies, to pray, to enjoy hobbies together, and to enjoy the blessings of fellowship and God’s grace. Groups meet at homes or at the Church at a variety of times throughout the week.

• ADULT RETREATS
Retreats will be organized periodically during the year to provide an opportunity for adults to get away from their daily routines and immerse themselves in God’s word, His teachings, and fellowship.

• SENIOR CHOIR -
 
This group provides music at the 2nd service on Sundays, Sept. – May. They practice weekly on Wednesdays from 7:30 – 9:00PM. Come prepared to smile as well as sing. God has given a wonderful sense of humor to several of its members.


• WOMEN’S SMALL GROUPS
There are a variety of groups that meet during the day and evening. They delve into Books of the Bible, spend time in prayer, enjoy hobbies, and discuss common life issues. Please call to inquire about these groups.

• WOMEN’S CIRCLES
Circles provide Christian fellowship in smaller groups through programs, lunches, and service projects. Meetings are held monthly at church or in members’ homes. There is a choice of day or evening Circles.

RETIRED MEN’S GROUP
This group of retired men helps maintain and repair the church building and grounds from April through October. They gather for lunch and countless projects of various sizes. During the winter months, the men continue as a social group (ROMEOs) with monthly programs. All retired men are welcome.

• MEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST
All men are invited to start their Wednesdays at the church sharing breakfast, Bible study and prayer. The group meets weekly from 6:30 – 7:30 AM

• GARDENING
Join the team that maintains church gardens and landscaping.


TEENS

• THE CAUSE
A weekly LOGOS program for grades 9 and up that meets Thursday evenings at the church from 6-8p.m. for dinner, Bible study, worship, and activities. There are numerous opportunities for retreats, concerts, service projects, and each summer there is a Mission Trip. These experiences have a great impact on the spiritual lives of the teens and create new solid friendships.wendy.bacon@uccdga.org

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Knowing the great importance of Sunday School for all ages, classes are available for 9th – 12th graders and meet weekly September through May.

• SPORTS TEAMS
Join our volleyball team and have fun competing Dec. through Mar. in the area wide church “BASIC Volleyball League”.

• TEEN CAFÉ
Teens gather once a month on Sunday afternoons (12:30-3:00), for music, a message, fun, and socializing.


• YOUNG ADULTS
Young adults from high school seniors and up meet after the 11:00 worship service (noon-1:30) once a month for lunch, special programs, activities and devotions.



CHILDREN

• YOUTH CLUB 
This program offers a lively after-school ministry of Bible study, music, crafts/games and supper for 2nd – 8th graders. It meets weekly on Wednesdays October – April when school is in session.

• SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Classes are available for 2 year olds- 8th graders; nursery care is available for younger children. Classes are held weekly on Sundays September through May.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
A one week V.B.S. is held at our church during the summer. It’s a lively time of learning for children from our congregation and community.

• CHILDREN’S TIME
Offers our Kindergarten – 2nd graders a Bible lesson and activities after the Children’s Sermon during the 11:00 Worship service (September – June) and the 9:30 service (July – August).


OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

• PRAYER CHAIN
From their homes, these folks make prayers for others a focus. As special requests for prayers are received, they are passed to this chain. Any interested person, regardless of working schedule, can be involved.

• PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
This group knits and crochets shawls for people in need of comfort and support along life’s way. Meets at 7:00p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at church. Another knitting group meets every Tuesday morning at 10am at the church.

• SUNDAY SCHOOL, YOUTH CLUB, VBS
Teachers, craft persons, musicians, prayer partners, cooks, grocery shoppers, walkers, etc. – all kinds of people and skills are needed to staff our Sunday School, our Wednesday after school program (Y.C.) and our one week Vacation Bible School. If you are interested in working with children, we are sure to have a place for you.

• CHURCH NURSERY
Working in groups of 2 or 3, these people take turns providing care for our littlest ones during Sunday School time and the worship hour.

• WALK THE WALK
These folks make the time to exercise weekly in a small group at the church. They are currently “getting fit” on Wednesday mornings at 11:30AM.

• SPORTS TEAMS (softball, volleyball)
 Are you interested in competitive, but fun, athletic activities? Then consider one of our 3 teams that play in local leagues. Teens are also welcome.


CHURCH COMMITTEES AND BOARDS

• CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE
This committee develops and oversees the Christian education programs. It meets monthly on the second Tuesday. If you care about Christian education, then this is the place for you.

• OUTREACH COMMITTEE
These folks make the effort to welcome visitors and new members. They meet monthly on the second Tuesday.

• YOUTH COMMITTEE
This group supports and advises our Teen & Young Adult programs. Meets monthly on the second Monday at 7pm. .

• MISSION COMMITTEE 
If you are interested in the more global outreach of the church, you will want to join this committee. It informs the congregation about and encourages participation in mission projects, as well as determines the recipients of the mission budget. Meets monthly on the second Tuesday.

• CHURCH BOARDS
These are the major boards of the Church, overseeing its spiritual and financial concerns. They meet monthly and generally have 3 year terms. Included are the Official Board, Board of Trustees, Endowment Trustees, and Board of Stewards. These are elected offices; but people are encouraged to submit their name for any position in which they would be interested.

• CHURCH LIFE COMMITTEE
 Help plan fun social events for families and adults.
